My first shot with the F31fd. Right out of the box. Set to BW mode. Upon downloading I discovered I had the camera set to Macro mode. I don't know if that affected the quality. It really doesn't matter, though. I printed this on my R800 and created one of my better 8X10 portraits of late. The is a straight image with not post processing. For the print I toned down the background. Kids change a lot their first year in college. Micki left weighting 280 lbs. He was a 6'3" offensive lineman. He returned home this spring a svelte 215 lbs. So much for the Freshman 15, which refers to the 15 lbs a lot of kids gain during their first year of college. And so much for playing football. He's given it up. Football was his passion since the 6th Grade. But I think dealing with injuries finally caught up with him. He suffered a broken hip and broken wrist in Middle School. A torn ACL in High School. And many other broken bones and injuries, many of which he played through. He never new how to play football except all out. His Senior year in High School, which ended in 2006, was one of the few seasons he completed without serious injury. He was named to the All-State team and received several scholarship offers. His focus has shifted to studies and a curriculum in Business. That's alright with me. Sports is wonderful, but sometimes not always healthy long term. He's happy kid with a bright future.
